Thomas Bernard Design Member of the KBDI

Thomas is a luxury kitchen and bathroom designer who has worked with some of the Gold Coast’s best cabinet makers over the years. With a background in cabinet making, Thomas understands not only the design principles that should be applied to each kitchen or bathroom but also has extensive knowledge on how cabinetry is manufactured and installed.

His knowledge has helped him design some amazing kitchens and bathrooms which has seen him nominated for awards. His expertise and design skills have won him an award for “Best Kitchen under $30,000 for Gold Cost and Northern Rivers” in 2015 as well as “Best Bathroom under $20,000 for Gold Coast and Northern Rivers” in 2016. After working as a designer for the past 5 years, Thomas is bringing a new approach to the joinery design industry. Working as an independent designer and consultant, and not as an in-house designer for a cabinet maker, Thomas has the client’s best interest at heart and will assist to achieve the best possible design based on the client’s needs, desires and budget.

Our Philosophy

“Over the years working in the industry, I have noticed that people who are on the market to purchase a new kitchen or bathroom will go to 3 different cabinet makers and get quotes. The issue with that is that each cabinet maker will have different allowances, designs or materials which means the quotes are not comparable.

Often, the quotes are full of confusing jargon that can be hard to understand for people who haven’t worked in the industry. My job is to assist you through this process and create a set of drawings and specifications that you can then get quoted by several cabinet makers. Each cabinet maker will cost the job based on the same information and provide you with quotes that you can compare.

You will then be able to make an educated choice on who you will proceed with, without having to impact on the quality of the job.”
